BTT - Sing! Sing a Song

Booking Through Thursday's question can be found here every week.

So, today’s question?

What songs … either specific songs, or songs in general by a specific group or writer … have words that you love?
Why?
And … do the tunes that go with the fantastic lyrics live up to them?

You don’t have to restrict yourself to modern songsters, either … anyone who wants to pick Gilbert & Sullivan, for example, is just fine with me. Lerner & Loewe? Steven Sondheim? Barenaked Ladies? Fountains of Wayne? The Beatles? Anyone at all…

Okay...for me it has to be anything by LeeAnn Womack.  Her songs talk about real life and really hit home with me.  I could listen to her cds again and again in the car and at home.  She ends every cd with a song that has a faith based message and I love that!  She sings real country music, true to the roots that country music comes from.  Her voice is clear and that of an angel.  She really speaks to me through her music.

What is it for you?

Aw, man! One of my all-time favorite songs is Just, Dance. But you've got the whole artist covered (no pun intended). Just Dance is one of those songs that transports me to a very specific place and time.

Terry, thanks for stopping by. I'm so glad we could make a "connection" today with BTT.

I don't listen to country. I love Crosby Stills, Nash & Young, Cat Stevens, Tom Petty, Simon & Garfunkel and people like that. I guess my age is showing.

I love the songs from musicals I learnt as a youngster. We only had a few albums, so we would play Oklahoma and My Fair Lady and The Student Prince over and over. I am still word perfect after so many years, and I wile away long car journeys by singing excerpts to my long-suffering husband!
