"Waiting On" Wednesday - The Dead Tossed Waves

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
The Dead-Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan
Release date: March 9th 2010 by Delacorte Books for Young Readers

Gabry lives a quiet life. As safe a life as is possible in a town trapped between a forest and the ocean, in a world teeming with the dead, who constantly hunger for those still living. She’s content on her side of the Barrier, happy to let her friends dream of the Dark City up the coast while she watches from the top of her lighthouse. But there are threats the Barrier cannot hold back. Threats like the secrets Gabry’s mother thought she left behind when she escaped from the Sisterhood and the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Like the cult of religious zealots who worship the dead. Like the stranger from the forest who seems to know Gabry. And suddenly, everything is changing. One reckless moment, and half of Gabry’s generation is dead, the other half imprisoned. Now Gabry only knows one thing: she must face the forest of her mother’s past in order to save herself and the one she loves.

Why do I want to read this one?  Well, I enjoyed Carrie Ryan's previous book, The Forest of Hands and Teeth, and since this is a companion to that one, I must read it.  I love books in a series or based on other books.  When authors do that with a book I enjoyed, then it's a for sure that I will pick up all the sequels, companions, or next in a series.  Looking forward to what Carrie has in store in this one!

I am waiting for this one too! It sounds good, and I loved the first. Plus, pretty cover is always a good reason to buy boo... right?

This is a highly anticipated book. People were talking about it on Twitter last night and I just read another WoW post on it.
