Next week is Children's Book Week. You know that I am all about books, children's especially, since I am a teacher. I love books for children of all ages, and I want to celebrate those books, the authors who write them, and the publishers who get them out there!
When and What is Children's Book Week?
Children’s Book Week has traditionally been celebrated the week before Thanksgiving. However, after the 2007 celebration, Children's Book Week will be held in May (May 11-17, 2009; May 10-16, 2010; May 2-8, 2011; May 7-13, 2012). It is an annual event that began in 1919. In 1944, the Children's Book Council was established, and it has administered the celebration ever since. During Children’s Book Week, public libraries, school libraries, and bookstores generally have special activities for children that are designed to encourage a love of books.
According to the Children’s Book Council,A celebration of the written word, Children's Book Week introduces young people to new authors and ideas in schools, libraries, homes and bookstores. Through Children's Book Week, the Children's Book Council encourages young people and their caregivers to discover the complexity of the world beyond their own experience through books.(taken from About.com)

So, how am I going to celebrate? Funny you should ask! It's going to be a week full of children's book reviews, author interviews, guest posts, and great giveaways. I have some wonderful things in store for you! If you are an author or publisher who would like to help me celebrate, please contact me via email and we can set something up.
The celebration begins on Monday; see you then!!

Great poster this year - I love Olivia!
This is going to be so much fun. I will come back for the fun.
What a terrific idea! You'd think that as a teacher I would know something like this, but I did not know it was going to be Children's Book Week. I think I will review a children's book every day next week. I will leave the guest posts and giveaways and all that fun stuff to you since it was your idea especially! But I think it is a great idea to participate and promote children's books that are not only fun, but educational, too.
I posted about the Children's Book Week on my blog.
