Review: The Milo & Jazz Mysteries: The Case of the Stinky Socks

Author:  Lewis B. Montgomery
Illustrator:  Amy Wummer
Review Copy Provided by:  The Kane Press

About the Book:  Milo and Jazz team up to solve their very first mystery! The Wildcats’ star pitcher is missing his lucky socks, and his pitching is going to pieces. But who would have stolen a pair of stinky socks? The jealous team mascot? The super-smug tennis champ? A player from the rival team? Milo and Jazz have to find the thief—and the socks—before the big game!

My Review:   This is a quick chapter book, perfect for the 7-11 year olds that it is geared towards.  Reluctant readers will flock to this one because it's an easy read, yet full of fun and mystery.  For the little detective in you, there are mini mysteries and puzzles in the back of the book; kids are sure to love that!

The characters are realistic and funny.  Even though this book focuses more on Milo, the girls are sure to love Jazz and therefore will want to get their hands on each new Milo & Jazz book.  Jazz's character is smarts paired with enthusiasm - I really liked her.

I'm excited to see a great new mystery chapter book for kids, especially one that is the first in a series.  Just like kids love Cam Jansen, they will love Milo & Jazz!

5 stars to Lewis Montgomery and The Case of the Stinky Socks.

There are currently 4 Milo & Jazz titles out.  You can see them all here.

This sounds like something Vance and his friends would have enjoyed - for some reason boys seem to be drawn to smells and noises.
